Renowned Archaeologist Dr. Diana Garry has a personal fascination with the sites she digs - as if there at the time of their splendour. In The Huntress she is drawn into the Roman-era Pagan Diana and its Renaissance revival during the lifetime of Diane de Poitiers, the famed Mistress of French King Henri II. In The Priestess she has dreams of the last days of the fabled Atlantean civilisation. In The Heiress she flashes back to the doomed Titanic.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comBlogger11125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5423090626415885009.post-71866461163887851952020-06-27T13:51:00.002-07:002020-06-27T13:51:51.570-07:00The Priestess Audiobook is now Available!

My first audiobook is on sale!
(it's actually my second novel though). Diana Garry is a doctor of Archaeology at Bath Sulis
University in the south-west of England.

In her 30’s, she has long given up on the idea of romance in
her life. She has one passion and that is her Archaeology. Diana has specialities
in the Phoenicians, Celts and Romans.

The world is a straightforward and straightforward place, as
is its history. Everybody knows and accepts that. Modern history started with
the adoption of agriculture in around 9000 BCE in the fertile crescent around the
middle east that today includes northern Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Syria and Iraq.
The ancient Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Egyptians, and Phoenicians were
all responsible for the development of civilisation as we know it.

People and events can be categorised as religious and
irrational or logical and scientific. Everything can be explained by science.
Or so she thought.
In the Diana Garry book series, we follow Diana as her rigid
belief systems are challenged in every possible way.

In ‘The Huntress’ she must confront her belief that
reincarnation is a new-age idea gleaned from the far east without any basis on
truth. She will glimpse the past, but not in an era that she is comfortable
with. And her relationships in her own life go in an unexpected, but welcome
direction.

In ‘The Priestess’ a more mature and happier Diana is brought
in on a dig that always had the possibility of challenging Columbus or the
Vikings as the first visitors to the Americas from the Old World. But its
ultimate conclusions could challenge her more fundamental tenets. Will Diana
get through this in one piece?

In ‘The Heiress’ a simple rescue dig finds a more relaxed
and open-minded Diana once more challenged by the history she knows and loves
compared with the evidence and visions she sees in front of her.

In ‘The Prophetess’ the Greco-Roman era bursts into life for
her as she yet again digs her trowel into a site dedicated to the moon goddess.

Doctor of Archaeology, Diana Garry, Director of the dig at the beautiful Renaissance Chateau of Chenonceau, was daydreaming as she sat behind her desk in one of the incident rooms.
She remembered back to her childhood when along with her two older sisters, their father would let them play unhindered in the grounds of their local castle at Corfe. They would take turns being the beautiful damsel in distress who was awaiting a dashing Knight in shining armour to whisk them away to his castle where he would turn out to be a dashing Prince and heir to the Kingdom.
But here in the grounds of the Chateau, a glimpse of the age of chivalry had been found in amongst the Roman remains. It shone a light on the life of Diane de Poitiers, a beautiful noblewoman who had turned the head of a young Prince who was himself the heir to the Kingdom of France.
“If only” muttered Diana to herself. She very much hoped that a handsome man would sweep her off of her feet now. She couldn’t see how that was going to happen. She was wed to her career and wandered from the dig site to dig site like a nomad. Romance hadn’t happened for her, and she somehow doubted that it ever had or ever would. But wouldn’t it be great to experience true love?
Oh to experience the thrills of such feelings, in the age of chivalry where Knights went away to fight distant wars and returned to the arms of their doting wives and girlfriends. The joie de vivre of l’amour. “Oh, yes, please!”
The voice of her mother echoed in her head “Be careful what you wish for, Diana!”
Book one of the Diana Garry series.
The adventure of a lifetime with a promise of a new life was over. Here on the lifeboat amongst the weeping and dark, impenetrable cold it was hard to imagine the joy she had shared with the young man. The heir to a great fortune in the United States, their dalliance had seemed unimaginable in her small Cornish community. She had caught a last glimpse of him singing along with the band up on deck. How smart they had all looked in their best jackets. And how beautiful she had been too, in her Sunday best with Mother’s powder and lipstick. The dress she was still wearing, but the rest were probably now deep beneath the North Atlantic ocean. The unsinkable Titanic sunk.
Juggling family commitments and her job was still relatively new to Doctor of Archaeology Diana Garry. It used to be work before all else. But that was no longer possible. At least a short dig season to rescue a possible Celtic temple of Bridget from the developers who were turning the industrial waterside of Belfast into luxury flats should be straightforward enough. No mythical cities or dashing knights here next to Harland and Wolf's remaining shipyard. She chuckled to herself as she thought ‘unless I was on the Titanic in a past life!’ She had never had a great fear of water so that could certainly be discounted.
